Arabidopsis Molecular Geneticist
Wanted: Postdoctoral
Fellow Position at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey

Subject area: Plant Cell Death Regulation.

NSF funded postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately to work on the
mechanisms of programmed cell death control in Arabidopsis thaliana by a family of conserved cysteine proteases
called metacaspase. Recent genetic and
biochemical studies have demonstrated the involvement of some members of this
protease family in regulating plant cell death activation by oxidative
stresses, and the importance of posttranslational mechanisms for regulating
their activity in vitro and in planta. Molecular, genetic and biochemical approaches
will now be deployed to further dissect the structural basis of these
regulatory functions. In particular, a
novel RNA-display technology developed in our collaborator Dr. Rihe Liu's
laboratory at UNC Chapel Hill (North Carolina) will be used to delineate the Arabidopsis
degradome candidates downstream from metacaspases. Applicants should have a recent PhD in
molecular genetics, preferably with experience in Arabidopsis. Ability to carry out experimental work
independently is essential and an interactive personality highly
desirable. Interested applicants should
send a CV, brief summary of research experience, and names and email addresses
of 3 referees to Dr. Eric Lam
(Lam from aesop.rutgers.edu).

Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.

Rutgers University is an equal opportunity/affirmative
action employer.
