I would like to make you aware of a postdoctoral funding opportunity to
join our group at North Carolina State University. This special two-year
Dean’s Diversity fellowship, targeted at *minority postdoctoral
to both research and teaching, strives to promote minorities’ participation
in science. Below you can find additional details about this funding
opportunity for minority applicants.
All the best,
*Description:* We are seeking postdoctoral candidates to join a
multidisciplinary team of molecular geneticists, bioinformaticians, and
engineers to investigate the molecular circuitries of signal integration in
plants. Using an avant-garde set of ideas and technologies in both
molecular biology and engineering, such as ribosome footprinting and
dynamic modeling of translation-based gene regulatory networks, the complex
molecular mechanisms involved in the signal integration of two plant
hormones, ethylene and auxin, are being investigated. The multidisciplinary
nature of this research represents an excellent training opportunity for
individuals seeking to combine experimental and theoretical approaches in
*Qualifications: * The successful candidate for this position should have
either a Ph.D. in molecular biology or a related discipline with proven
experience in bioinformatics/engineering or a Ph.D. degree in
bioinformatics/engineering with hands-on experience in molecular biology.
*Research Program Information:*
*Project Leader:* Jose M. Alonso. jmalonso from ncsu.edu, 919-515-5729
*GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: *Persons interested in the Dean’s Postdoctoral
Fellowship opportunity must hold an earned PhD and meet the qualifications
of their project of interest. The postdoc will be required to teach a
class based on the needs of the department and his/her background and
interests. Additionally, the postdoc will work on one project with the
Office of Diversity Affairs. Therefore, prior experience working with
underrepresented minority populations is required.
*POSTDOCTORAL STIPEND*: $40,000 to $45,000 per year PLUS benefits AND up to
$3000 for professional development.
*APPLICATION: By February 12, 2016, interested persons must contact the
project leader. *Interested persons of Native American and African
American descent are encouraged to contact the project leader.
