The 2014 Metabolomics Workshop & Symposium at the University of Florida will teach the basics of metabolomics, including introductions to analytical instrumentation, study design, and statistical analysis from May 20-23, 2014. The workshop is limited to 50 participants and is appropriate for graduate students, technicians, postdocs, and faculty who are new to the field. The symposium is limited to 200 registrants and will feature leading metabolomics investigators, who will present examples of applications in plants, animals, and humans. Discounts will be provided to applicants who register for all 4 days.

Students (graduate and post-docs) from underrepresented groups are eligible to apply for financial aid for attending the workshop and symposium. Eligible applicants need to submit via email a short essay (maximum one page) by midnight on April 30, 2014, explaining how they expect to benefit from the workshop, and how they have used metabolomics or how they intend to implement metabolomics in their research. A one-page c.v. (any format) should be submitted at the same time. Letters of recommendation are not a part of the evaluation process but a brief e-mail from the applicant's supervisor is required to confirm student/post-doc status. This email should be submitted directly by the supervisor. Please e-mail all documents to Dr. Sarah M. Assmann (sma3 from psu.edu<mailto:sma3 from psu.edu>) AND Dr. Sixue Chen (schen from ufl.edu<mailto:schen from ufl.edu>). Registration fees will be waived for successful applicants, and a limited number of travel awards also will be given to defray travel costs. Any questions concerning the application process can be directed either to Dr. Sarah M. Assmann (sma3 from psu.edu<mailto:sma3 from psu.edu>) or to Dr. Sixue Chen (schen from ufl.edu<mailto:schen from ufl.edu>).
