Postdoctoral and Post-Master's Research Associates in Plant Synthetic
Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Oak Ridge, TN
Multiple (postdoctoral and post-master's) positions in Plant Synthetic
Biology are available in the Plant Systems Biology group within the
Biosciences Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The selected
candidates will join a large team of investigators to work on genetic
improvement of bioenergy plants using a synthetic biology approach as
applied to CAM photosynthesis. The project is funded by the U.S. Department
For the Postdoctoral position, successful candidate should have working
knowledge in one or more of the following areas: 1) Genome engineering
(e.g., site-specific gene stacking, targeted genome editing, artificial
chromosome, etc.), 2) molecular biology, 3) biochemistry, and 4) molecular
For the Post-Master=92s position, successful candidate should have working
knowledge in one or more of the following areas: 1) genetic transformation
of plants (e.g., Populus, Arabidopsis, etc.), 2) molecular cloning, 3)
plant cell and tissue culture, and 4) plant physiology.
These two positions welcome individuals with very strong experimental
skills. The Postdoctoral applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. degree in
genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields. The
Post-Master=92s applicants are expected to have a master's degree or
equivalent in plant science, molecular biology, or related fields.
Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant publication record
and experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability
