[Arabidopsis] Biological Educator Position at West Virginia University

The Department of Biology (http://www.as.wvu.edu/biology/) at West
Virginia University invites applications for a tenure-track position at
the ASSISTANT or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR level in biological education
beginning August 2007.  Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent
degree. Experience in education-related funding and/or research is
highly desirable but exceptional candidates without this experience will
be considered.  Evidence of excellent teaching skills in accord with
expectations below is required. 

We seek exceptional teaching professionals with background in any area
of biology.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop
initiatives that maximize student learning in the sciences that
complement other such activities in the college, coordinate learning
outcomes assessment in biology, participate in improving the
undergraduate biology curriculum and incorporating new inquiry-based
opportunities for undergraduate majors, and teach innovative courses in
the department.  The Biological Educator will assist professors,
instructors and graduate students in incorporating techniques to improve
student learning, adapt to multiple learning styles, and develop the
success of minority or culturally disadvantaged students. The Biological
Educator will be expected to secure outside funding for advancement of
teaching initiatives within the department and develop outreach
initiatives for K-12 and undergraduate science education.
