University of Wales Bangor, United Kingdom

The project concerns the identification of the important genes of organic
acid utilisation, and subsequently determining how these genes influence
primary metabolism by signalling gene expression. The candidate will use
molecular, biochemical, and genetic techniques for these studies, such as
DNA and RNA analysis, PCR, macro- and microarrays, and NMR and mass
spectrometry. The candidate should have, or will soon be awarded, a PhD in
an appropriate molecular sciences degree, and is proficient in molecular
biology techniques. A good understanding of plant metabolism and modern
functional genomic technologies would be benefitial. The position is
available immediately and, initially, will be contracted for 1 year.
Interested candidates should send a CV with the contact details of at least
two referees and a brief description of previous research to Dr. Mark
Hooks, School of Biological Sciences, University of Wales Bangor, Gwynedd,
LL57 2UW, United Kingdom; email: m.a.hooks at bangor.ac.uk.
