Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately to study WRKY
DNA-binding transcription factors in Arabidopsis and rice. WRKY
transcription factors are found only in plants and are encoded by large gene
families with more than 70 members in Arabidopsis and rice. The primary goal
of the projects is to analyze the structures, expression and, most
importantly, biological functions of the gene families in the two model
plants. A major focus will be placed on their roles in the regulation of
plant defense responses to microbial pathogens. Interest and experience in
molecular biology, biochemistry, and plant biology/pathology are needed.
