I would like to post this position. Thank you.
Two Postdoctoral Positions, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.
The Department of Biology at Colorado State University invites applications
for two postdoctoral positions in plant trace element research.
The first position, in the group of Dr. Elizabeth Pilon-Smits, is available
immediately. As part of an NSF-sponsored project, the successful candidate
will investigate plant metabolism of Se and other oxyanions, using a
multidisciplinary approach (plant genetic engineering, physiology,
biochemistry). Besides doing independent research, the candidate will help
coordinate a team also consisting of one graduate student and several
undergraduate students. The project involves collaboration with Kyoto
University, and there will be possibility for short-term visits.
Applicants for this position should have a Ph.D. with a strong background
in plant molecular biology and biochemistry. Experience in trace element
research is desirable. The ideal candidate is a good team worker, creative,
has good oral and written communication skills, and experience with
techniques such as ICP-AES, HPLC, GC-MS, enzyme kinetics, molecular
biological techniques, EDXA, XAS.
The second position, in the group of Dr. Marinus Pilon, will be available
The position is part of an NSF-funded project, and focuses on the molecular
and biochemical characterization of a chloroplast Cu transporter, and
analysis of its role in metal homeostasis in Arabidopsis. The successful
candidate will be part of a team studying chloroplast metal homeostasis;
the team also includes a graduate student and undergraduate students.
Applicants for this position should have a Ph.D. in plant molecular
biology, biochemistry, or appropriately related field. Experience with
general molecular biological and biochemical techniques is essential, such
as RNA analysis, cell fractionation, protein purification, recombinant DNA
techniques. Experience in metal research is desirable.
Besides having the experience indicated above, the candidates for both
positions must have evidence of research potential as demonstrated by
published (accepted and printed) research papers in the English language
in international peer-reviewed journals.
Both positions are full-time appointments for one to three years contingent
upon satisfactory progress and continued funding. The positions offer
benefits, and the opportunity for professional growth and advancement.
