2 Post-Doctoral Research Positions in the
Centre for Novel Agricultural Products (CNAP)
‘Functional Genomics in Arabidopsis’
‘Proteomics of Plant Cell Wall Flexibility’
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral research positions
within the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products.
The first research project, directed by Prof Ian Graham, is aimed at the
functional characterisation of genes involved in regulating Arabidopsis seed
germination and metabolism. Bioinformatics, microarrays, metabolite profiling
and reverse genetics will be used to identify and prove the function of genes
that regulate seed germination and associated metabolic events.
The second project, directed by Prof Simon McQueen Mason involves an
of the molecular basis of cell wall flexibility in plants. The
project makes
use of proteomic, and molecular biological approaches in combination with
mechanical analyses of specialised plant cell walls.
The postdoctoral research associate on the first project will have a strong
background in molecular biology ideally with experience in
Arabidopsis molecular
genetics. Candidates for the second post should have experience in molecular
biology and protein chemistry.
Both posts are funded by the CNAP core budget, initially for 3 years, with
a possibility of extension. Start date will be not later than 1st October
2001. Starting salaries will be in the range £16,775 -
