Currently we are seeking a qualified individual to assist in the plant
pathology program. The Research Assistant/Associate will develop disease
resistance strategies using both traditional plant pathology and molecular
* Site directed mutagenesis for gene modification.
* Preparation of intermediate and binary vectors for plant
* Preparation of fungal and bacterial cultures for challenge
* Troubleshooting when technical problems are encountered.
* Designing, performing and analyzing experiments to device methods
for resistance to plant pathogens.
Candidates should possess either an M.S. with 2 or more years related
experience or a Ph.D. in the field of plant pathology, with an emphasis in
molecular biology, specifically the study of molecular plant-pathogen
interactions. Experience with some or all of the following is desirable:
site directed mutagenesis, Southern, Northern, and Western blot assays,
development of molecular probes, preparation of bacterial, fungal, or viral
inoculum, inoculation procedures, DNA sequence analysis programs, and
