In the EU/ FAIR programme "New oilseed rape resistant to diseses through
interspecific crosses" are two postdoctoral fellowships open for
application. The applicants should have a PhD in life science with
practical experience in plant molecular genetics and plant pathology. All
fellowships are for one year, with possibilites for prolongation for two
more years. The positions are placed at the Swedish University of
Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala.
Applicants should submit a full curriculum vitae with a covering letter
indicating which project they are most interested in, and the names and
addresses of two referees.
Closing date for application is 25 of February 1998.
The positions are open in the following projects:
1. Mapping of resistance genes.
Molecular markers will be developed to map disease resistance to
Leptosphaeria maculans and Verticillium dahliae in Brassica species,
Arabidopsis thaliana and in breeding lines developed in the programme.
2. Resistance and phylogenetic studies of Verticillium dahliae.
By molecular techniques V. dahliae isolates will be characterized. This
information will be used in the subsequent screening for resistance
sources and development of plant molecular markers.
