A postdoctoral position is immediately available for individuals interested
in developmental genetics to participate in the cloning of the embryonic
flower genes. Two embryonic flower genes have been identified that
regulate shoot maturation and flowering in Arabidopsis (Science 258: 1654,
1992; Developmental Biology 162: 421, 1955; Am. J. bot. 82: 1095, 1995).
Candidates should have extensive molecular biology (cosmid library
construction and screening, DNA sequencing, RNA preparation and analysis,
Ac-Ds transposon tagging analysis) and plant genetics (crosses, double
mutant analysis) experience. Applications and inquiries can be sent via
e-mail or to Renee Sung, Department of Plant Biology, 111 Koshland Hall,
University of California, Berkeley, CA 94720-3102.
