RE: research technician position
A research technician position (M.S. or B.S. level) is available immediately
in a new lab in the Department of Biological Sciences, State University of
New York, Albany, NY. This is primarily a research position, with approx.
30% effort on lab management and ordering. The area of research is post-
transcriptional control of gene expression in Arabidopsis. Some of the
experiments will utilize yeast as a model system (complementation of yeast
mutants with heterologous cDNAs, multicopy suppressor, synthetic lethal,
and two hybrid screens). Motivation as well as some previous experience
with routine molecular biology manipulations such as DNA and RNA preparation,
plasmid construction, PCR, Southern, Northern, Western blotting are essential,
experience with plants and/or yeast is desirable but not required. Funding is
available for one year at present, continuing appointment wil be dependent on
the external grants. This position may be suitable for a person wishing to get
some more molecular biology experience before entering graduate school.

Albany is a pleasant 100,000-size city within 2-3hr drive from New York and
Boston and 3-4 hr from Montreal, and less than 1hr from Adirondacks and
