University of Missouri-Columbia

A two-year postdoctoral position is available startng Sept. 15, 1996
to study the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of signal
transduction mediating the phototropic responses of Arabidopsis. The
primary focus of this position will be the continued physiological and
genetic characterization of a series of allelic mutants at a locus of
Arabidopsis that apparently encodes a component of the signaling
pathway downstream of the photoperception event (Liscum E and Briggs
WR, 1995, Plant Cell 7: 473-485; Liscum E and Briggs WR, 1996, Plant
Physiology, in press), and the cloning of the gene encoded at this
locus via amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) technology
(see http://carnegiedpb.stanford.edu/methods/aflp.html).

Applicants should have a strong background in genetics and extensive
experience with molecular biological techniques. An interest in
light-regulated development is expected and experience with
Arabidopsis would be advantageous.

Interested individuals should send/fax/or email a CV, brief summary of
research experience and interests, and the names of three references
to Dr. Mannie Liscum, Division of Biological Sciences, 105 Tucker
Hall, Univeristy of Missouri-Columbia, Columbia, MO 65211; FAX
573-882-0123; email mliscum at biosci.missouri.edu. The University of
Missouri-Columbia is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
