New AIMS Web Server

The original computer and software of the AIMS database were
replaced with substantially faster versions on March 31. This
should greatly facilitate the locating and ordering of stocks,
since the old server has been overloaded for some time. The new
server should have the capability to process searches and return
results in a prompt fashion.

In conjunction with the transfer to the new server, the home
page address of AIMS has been changed (new address,
http://aims.cps.msu.edu/aims/): Presently, the database can
still be located from the original home page. However, please
add the new location to your bookmarks, as the ÒgenesysÓ address
will eventually be phased out completely.

A number of data additions to AIMS have been made. The order
history section has been fully updated. Likewise, the reference
and colleague information is continually updated. As the ABRC
prepares the data from the extensive new collections of seed
stocks and clones in the next few weeks for the new catalog
supplement, the AIMS stock information sections will also be
updated/expanded. A Refer export file of all references
compiled by ABRC beginning with 1995 publication dates are
available as an ftp file from the second Web page. It should be
possible to transfer this file to your computer and import it
directly into EndNote. The complete information for the Lemieux
laboratory anchored ESTs, including EST identifiers and updated
NCBI IDs, has been incorporated into the database descriptions
of these clones. A text version of this information is also
available on the Web second page.

Questions about AIMS may be addressed to Dr. Randy Scholl
(scholl.1 at osu.edu), Dr. Sakti Pramanik (pramanik at cps.msu.edu) or
