SOYBEAN GENOME PROJECT
Plant Molecular Geneticist (Postdoctoral Position)
YAC and BAC cloning of plant nodulation genes
$22-25,000 per annum
The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Tennessee
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to
conduct soybean genome research. The research area focuses on
YAC and BAC construction, their characterization for genome
rearrangement, stability and co-lineararity, as well as the
positional cloning of nodulation genes only defined by their
inheritance and phenotype. We have successfully developed
methods to handle high molecular weight soybean DNA useful for
physical mapping and YAC cloning. A partial YAC library has been
developed. Parallel work on a BAC library is in progress.
The successful applicant will be appointed for two years in the
first instance. S(he) will join an active research group in the
Racheff Chair of Plant Molecular Genetics. The initial salary
will range from $22-25,000 depending on qualifications. The
position is available immediately.
