Sucrose has been commonly used as a carbon source and osmotic regulator for
plant cell culture. Since sucrose increases the background levels of an assay
we are doing, I am interested to know whether there are alternative
carbohydrate sources which can be used for tobacco cell suspension culture. If
there are such suitable sources, I would appreciate knowing how they can
substitute for sucrose (e.g. in what combination if more than one are
required, at what concentrations etc).
