DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY
The Department of Biology at McGill University invites
applications for a tenure-track position at the ASSISTANT
PROFESSOR level in PLANT MOLECULAR BIOLOGY. The Department seeks
candidates who have demonstrated research ability in the
identification, isolation, and characterization of genes
governing physiological and/or developmental phenomena in a
genetically well characterized system. We are particularly
interested in filling the position with a plant molecular
biologist, but applications from individuals working in other
areas of molecular biology will be considered.
The successful applicant will join a large (40 full-time faculty)
and dynamic department with research strengths in cellular,
molecular, and developmental biology, ecology, and neurobiology.
The Department also has excellent technical facilities, including
centres for photography, light and electron microscopy,
biotechnology, and field stations.
Applicants should hold the Ph.D. degree in biology or a related
field, and demonstrate capacity for independent research. Duties
will include carrying out research and participating in teaching
of undergraduate- and/or graduate-level courses in cell and
