Postdoctoral Research Fellowship
Plant Molecular Biology/Plant Virology
A postdoctoral position is available from February 1993 funded by
the Cooperative Research Centre for Legumes in Mediterranean
CLIMA is located in Perth, Western Australia, and involves the
W.A. Department of Agriculture, University of Western Australia,
Murdoch University and CSIRO. The position will be at Murdoch
University, in collaboration with the WA Department of Agriculture.
Duration: 3 years with possibility of extension to 5 years.
Salary: about A$36,000, depending on experience.
Duties: molecular research on Cucumber Mosaic Virus and Bean Yellow
Mosaic Virus, with the aim of engineering resistance in legumes
(particularly lupin, the main grain legume grown in Australia).
Associated programmes include tissue culture and transformation of
A full range of equipment for molecular research is available,
including computer analysis of sequences, an ABI automated DNA
sequencer and Genescan software, oligonucleotide synthesis etc.,
and glasshouse facilities for plant growth.
