The three types have different names in different organisms, I'm
afraid, just like most genes. Most often, the cytoSOLIC one is called
Sod1, the mitochondrial one Sod2 and the EXTRAcellular one Sod3 (with
capitalisation again varying between species).
Yes, the manganese-dependent one (MnSOD) is only mitochondrial; the
cytosolic and extracellular ones are both Cu/ZnSODs (copper- and
zinc-dependent). There are also iron-dependent SODs but they are not
present in animals.
