Ageing readers,
I just saw an article at the dentist talking about periodontal
disease causing other health problems. During the night, I had a sudden
thought. Perhaps this is not a cause and effect situation but rather
a coincidental or simultaneous evidencing of the same problem, namely
a coenzyme Q10 deficiency. Maybe periodontal disease can be used as
a warning sign that Q10 levels are slow and steps, such as supplements,
taken to cure the periodontal disease and prevent other problems. It
would be even better if further investigation could be done to find
out how to increase the body's biosynthesis of Q10. I read that the
popular cholesterol-lowering drugs, the statins, inhibit biosynthesis
of Q10. This sounds like another case of disease substitution. Stop
coronary artery disease and cause congestive heart failure.
