I am proposing that it shortening of the telomeres by a specific number of base
pairs since the cell differentiated from an immortal telomerase expressing cell
line which causes in vitro replicative senescence. As the critical length of
telomere causing replicative senescence would be determined at the initiation of
the cells replicative lifespan subsequent elongation of the telomeres would
increase the number of divisions which the cell made before entering replicative
senescence.
