Ageing readers,
I found a very interesting article from the chemistry department of
Washington State University on the net. The title is "Energy From Fats".
It shows how energy can be directly derived from fats, with the help of
FAD and NAD. I think this might explain the fat loss I obtained with
a dose of LCFFA (Long Chain Free Fatty Acid) which makes the liver think
there is a lot of free fatty acid circulating in the blood. My supplements
of Niacin and Vitamin B-2 provide for more NAD and FAD.
The URL for the article is:
www.chem.wsu.edu/Chem102/102-FatCatab.html
You can also get it by using the Altavista search engine with key:
+"Energy From Fats"
I originally found this info in my '77 Britannica but wanted a more
recent reference for confirmation.
