RN+Whatever the claims of exceptional longevity in old and new mythologies, for
+gerontologists Madame Calment is/has been the longest lived human being ever
+Every passing day in her life sets a new record for human longevity.

Madame Calment still has 237 days to go for the validated record. This
was the lifespan of the Japanese gentleman we saw on TV a couple of
years ago on *his* 120th birthday.

I wish her well in making the record.

What both these people of Mosaic age seem to have had in common is a
lust for life. The media were not too specific about Mlle Calment's
meeting with Van Gogh, but it is clear she got out and about. Oshima,
I think his name was, drank his daily shot of arrack, a vile peasant
vodka which is probably full of nutrients unknown to conventional
science...

Anybody doing any research on that "champagne" stuff Calment was seen
drinking?

                              :-)
