It seems like a large portion of the population does not want to accept the
fact that lives can be extended.
I think the possibility of life extension shakes the very foundation that
their religion is built on. They are afraid to be in the position of having
to make the decision.
I think your ideas on extending puberty are interesting. Carl Sagan wrote
about this in one of his books ( I think it might have been Dragons of Eden
but I'm not sure). He called it neotony and increased fetalization. Sagan
believes that humans made great advances in evolution when we "stretched"
out our life spans. Apparently minor genetic changes made us mature at a
slower rate allow for greater brain size, walking at an older age, puberty
later, adult hood later etc.... to longer life spans.
